We are currently looking to add an additional member to
our team. Because we are small company the role will
be varied with a wide range of tasks to be undertaken.
Primarily however the job will involve the annual
maintenance of P.E. equipment in schools throughout
Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. This yearly visit will
involve basic repair work as required and the production of
a hand written report sheet which is left with the customer
for their records. The report states the general
condition of all equipment and an estimated price of any
outstanding repairs/replacements.
To carry out this role you will require excellent
communication skills, firstly to write a hand written report
but also to speak with confidence to
caretakers/secretaries/head teachers as and when you are
required to do so. Full training is given on the
inspection and maintenance of the equipment and no previous
knowledge is required although some DIY type skills would be
beneficial.
As well as the primary role of maintenance operative you
will assist in the installation of new equipment and carry
out larger scale repairs of older equipment. The use
of ladders and scaffold towers can be required to carry out
these task and previous experience of using them would be
beneficial but not essential.
As already mentioned, you would be expected to carry out a
varied number of other tasks as and when required.
These tasks could range from tidying the workshop to filing,
cleaning your van (see below) to stock taking. As we
are a small company everybody is expected to 'muck in'.
Although advertised as 40 hours a week a great deal of
flexibility is required. Our first appointment is 8.30
AM and if working in Penzance, Ilfracombe or Taunton you
would be expected to be at Saltash ready to leave at
6.45/7.00 AM. However if working in Plymouth then 8.00
AM would be the meet time in Saltash. The finish time
for each day depends on when the last job is done but can be
anywhere between 3.00 and 6.00PM. Because of school
time tables and multi use halls lunch breaks can last
anywhere between 30 minutes and 1 1/2 hours. This is
why being flexable is so important. All work is
carried out Monday to Friday, no weekends or evenings except
in extremely exceptional circumstances.
The starting salary for this post is £14,000 p.a.
This will increase whilst training is
undertaken and more responsibility is given. We
anticipate you will not go out on your own for the first
year by which time you will have a good understanding of the
job and be comfortable working on your own. At this
point you will have use of a company van.
You will require a full clean driving license and be
tidily dressed (polo and sweat shirts provided). We
are looking for somebody who is punctual, eager to learn,
enthusiastic, honest, trustworthy, able to work under
pressure, a team player who can also work on their own
initiative. A C.R.B. check will also be carried out
to ensure you are a suitable person to carry out work in
schools.
If you have any questions about this post please contact
Kevin on 01752 845123 or 07773395220.
If you wish to apply for this position please send a CV
with a hand written covering letter stating why you would be
suitable for this
role to the Unit 9 address above.
